2009/2010 Grade 6 Science Field Trip Science

This activity is being coordinated by R. Pierce.

It was a cold frosty morning when the grade 6’s headed out into the wilderness of Ribbon Creek in Kananaskis. The bus ride was over an hour each way. Before we hiked up the trail of the mountain we met two friends from CPAWS (The Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society). Their names were Laura and Alex who guided us on our hike and taught us some things about wildlife, trees and forests.

The entire grade 6’s split up into 2 groups, I was with the group who went with Laura and the other group went with Alex. It was very tiring going up the mountain. The trail was covered in snow which made the trek even more difficult. About half way up, we all stopped and played a game called camouflage. It was very fun and exciting. We almost left without Harry who had hid extremely well during the game.

When we finally reached the top of the mountain we saw an amazing view. I felt like I was on top of the world. When we were going down the mountain all I saw was Sarah sliding and screaming. That was an experience I will never forget.

The grade 6’s would like to thank the following parents who helped make our field trip a great day Mrs. Card, Mrs. Feissel, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Lorentz and Mr. Rivero, as well as our student-teacher Mr. Werner thanks again.
