The Calgary Catholic School District Reception Centre will be open to register foreign-born students who are new to the Calgary Catholic School District. Students whose first language is not English can expect to complete an English language proficiency assessment. The Reception Centre will be open throughout the summer months (with the exception of weekends, July 1st and August 3rd) from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The new student(s) and a legal guardian must attend the intake appointment. The following documents should be brought to the Reception Centre on the day of the appointment:

• Immigration documents for the child (Permanent Residency (PR) card, landed immigrant documents, student Visa, refugee claims etc.)
• Parent's or guardian's immigration papers if the student is a child of a temporary resident (guardian's work or study permit and the child’s passport or study Visa)
• Child's Birth Certificate
• Legal Proof of Guardianship (if the guardian is not the child's parent i.e. adoption papers or a court ordered guardianship papers)
• Proof of Catholicity
o Student's Baptismal Certificate (if available)
o One or both Parent's/Guardian's Catholic Baptismal or Marriage Certificates, a letter from a Catholic parish priest or they must be prepared to sign a declaration of Catholicity at the Reception Centre
• Student records
o Last report card, transcripts or other educational reports that may be important to understanding the student's needs
